Old-Site of the Day: SWALE Another old site about AI. This one's about creativity. "The SWALE project explores case-based reasoning (CBR) as a basis for creativity. In the CBR model of creativity, creativity comes from retrieving knowledge that is not routinely applied to a situation, and using it in a new way." The current URL isn't that old, only appearing in the Wayback Machine in 2022. But the page lists another URL. The Wayback Machine has an archive for that URL, going back to 2001.

12-11-24 Old-Site of the Day! CMU Artificial Intelligence Repository Still looking through old AI-related sites. This one appears to be links to old FTP sites. It's nice & simple, but I susupect most of the stuff it's meant to archive is long gone. First appears in the Wayback Machine in 1998.

Old-Site of the Day: "Chatterbot Central" or "The Simon Laven Page" Still interested in older AI stuff. Here's a page listing a whole lot of old chat bots; not just ELIZA. Started in 1996; earliest version I can find is from 2001.

12-5-24 Old-Site of the Day: The Billy Project AI is interesting, but it's nothing new. Went browsing Curlie, to try to find older programs. Here's two chatterbots, Billy & Daisy. You can link them together, to let them talk to each other. They learn; Daisy knows nothing when she starts, & bases her output on past conversations. Looks like Daisy & earlier versions of Billy were DOS based; the newest version of Billy was for Windows. Looks like the last version of either was from 2005. Probably doesn't work as well as current stuff, but the ability to run it locally is nice, & it's nice that you know where the initial data for Daisy comes from. That's one of my biggest worries about the new stuff; they could be considered auto-plagiarists.

Old-Site of the Day: Vendetta A web-video Christmas special, from 1999. Someone linked to this site on ToonZone. It's not a cartoon, but someoen over there runs a yearly blog reviewing odd Christmasn shows; one user suggested this as a possibility. Haven't watched the video.

Old-Site of teh Day: Reel Medi International: Dark Series Summary While trying to fin Reel Media International's website, to search for films that might be in the public domain, I stumbled on this page which appears to be cut off from their main site. It appears to be a page from an early catalog of their holdings, perhaps dating to 2002. I think I've already featured their main site, but this was odd enough to post.
11-6-24 Old-Site of the Day: Gracefulboot Homepage Still looking for boardgame sites. Found this page of links. It's part of someone's homepage, with a handful of different things. Not sure how old it is, but it's an older style. Bible Verse of the Day!
11-5-24 Old-Site of the Day: Luding.org Another site about boardgames. This is like what I was looking for, a large, simple, searchable database. Buut it's still not perfect: you can't browse the games; you can only search by title. Started in the 90's; converted to a more advanced database in 2001.

11-4-24 Well, It's a new month. Time for a new page!
Old-Site of the Day: SpotlightOnGames Trying to find something like BoardGameGeek, but without all the bloat. (And a preference for older games.) A bit disorganized, like many old websites, but I kinds like that. The update archive goes back to 2002. Looks like it ws last updated in 2022. Not sure their taste in games agrees with mine, but it's still interesting to browse.
